Instructions for Program Participants
Why so many
instructions?
 |
to get the
most out of the program you must be prepared
|
 |
it provides
you a checklist including things you may not have considered
|
 |
it greatly
reduces our administrative burden when all the paperwork is in order, and we
then have more time to work on creating a great program
|
 |
when people
are disappointed we have to do a lot of exta work to deal with it, and again we
would rather spend the time working on the program
|
Send in your information sheet by Friday, May 16th.
And Please:
 | don't send it late; if
we don't have it we will guess at your schedule and you may be diappointed. |
 | don't send a letter or
email or tell us in the phone . SEND THE SHEET. Letters, emails and scraps of
paper with phone conversations may not wind up in the right folder, and
the information gets lost |
 | if you say "I'll tell
you later", then make sure you do tell us later. |
Make sure we know your playing, so we can place
you in suitable groups.
 | if you are new, we must
have a tape, CD or audition. |
 | if your playing has
substantially improved, send us a recording. We don't want to underplace
you. |
 | we have no way to hear
MP3 and midi formats -- stick to ordinary CD's and tapes . |
Acquire and bring music for everything you are
assigned to.
 | if you have trouble
finding the music, call us. |
 | number the measures --
not everyone has the same edition; you don't want to waste group time finding
what measure to start over on. Numbering
instructions |
 | put your name on all
your parts and scores. |
 | bring your part to every
group. |
 | help your groups by
bringing the other parts and a score; if someone forgets theirs you will save
the group much time. |
Practice your music
 | others in the group are
counting on you to know your part (do your best, we know you are not perfect;
but an appropriate amount of practicing will do wonders ). |
 | get a CD of the work and
listen to it while you read the score |
Check in on time
 | arrange transportation
early -- Summertrios does not arrange transportation |
 | plan your schedule so
you do not have conflicts for on-time check in; we do not have staff to
man registration past 5p.m. |
 | Summertrios cannot honor
requests for specific dormitory rooms. Our administrative efforts are
focused on creating the best musical program we can; we cannot afford the
extra administrative costs of accommodating individual requests.
(Note: If you have a physical
problem -- can't climb stairs, must be next to bathroom, etc. we will
accommodate that.) |
Do not leave early -- plan your time so you
can stay to the end.
 | early leavetakers leave
their scheduled groups without a player |
 | the participants who are
performing need your support in attending the concert |
