Concerto Program

This is a unique opportunity to play with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, a world-class professional orchestra! You don’t have to win a competition, all instrumentalists and vocalists are accepted. We will consult with you to help you choose repertoire which fits your skills and budget.
SOLOIST
Imagine yourself as the soloist in your favorite concerto, with a beautiful professional orchestra sounding in your ears. You will rehearse, have a personal consultation with the conductor and perform in the final concert. The challenge will inspire you to achieve huge gains in your playing. A CD of your program willl be sent to you.
Six Day Program includes
• four rehearsals with piano reduction
• consultation with orchestra conductor
• one or two rehearsals with orchestra
• performance (invite guests)
• extra time on any of above if you request

COMPOSER
An affordable solution for composers: Did you write an orchestral work, only to discover you cannot afford a demo CD with an orchestra that can do it justice? The Summertrios approach gets you a cost effective CD with a truly fine orchestra, and a premiere performance of your work.
Premiere Performance and Demo Recording of your Composition
Getting a demo CD of an orchestral composition is ordinarily a difficult and very expensive matter. By using the Summertios Orchestral/Concerto Program you can make it all simpler and less expensive. The reason is, simply, we have already hired the orchestra, and have planned things so that each participant uses just as much orchestra time as he/she needs. You do not have to hire an entire service (2.5 hours) if you only need an hour.
We are already recording, so again, you share the cost with the other participants, using just what you need.
How does the program work?
You provide a score to the conductor, who will read it and consult with you, both about your intentions and about technical details of performing your composition. You will work with the conductor as he/she rehearses your composition. We record your composition twice: once at final rehearsal and again at performance. You may choose which recording you want as your demo disk.
What may I record?
Any orchestral composition provided the instrumentation is not too difficult to implement. We will consult with you about whether your composition is suitable for our program.
What is the recording quality?
It will be clear, and suitable as a demo disk. Samples of previously recorded works are available. We do not have a contract with the orchestra to make professional recordings for commercial use.

Costs
Costs depend on the orchestra size and the amount of rehearsal and performance needed. Costs include room and board at the college, facilities fees, tuition, as well as the rehearsal and performance time that has been agreed upon. Custom pricing is available.
