Welcome to Virtual Summertrios 2020
June 21 – 25, 2020
Join us as we Zoom into June for 4 days of interactive sessions for strings, winds, and piano. Scroll down to explore the wide range of options from favorites adapted to our circumstances like Piano Night and Receptions to inventive new choices. The talented (and adaptable!) Summertrios Faculty share useful, interesting information to enrich your music-making despite the limitations of distance learning. All sessions will take place on Zoom, so they are interactive in real time.
While Summertrios will be a virtual experience this year, our community can remain connected and energized as we celebrate and support the Summertrios Faculty.

Make your rehearsal preparation and practice skills more effective in these sessions where participants play, listen and give feedback to one another as peers. Think of this as your first rehearsal. Is there a passage that you are really not sure how to approach? Submit it to us in advance and get ready to have some fun. Faculty members Sara, Linda and Shem gently guide the conversation, focusing on how to communicate constructively to others - and to yourself. Bring excerpts from the chamber music repertoire whether familiar to you or brand new. Members of pre-formed groups are invited to choose a section of their piece

By separating rhythm from pitch in notation, Kim helps you lay the steady foundation needed to understand the reading and execution of rhythm as a separate skill or task from producing a pitch. These sessions give precise guidelines for developing your sense of inner pulse, and show you how to divide each beat internally to form the rhythms in the music you play. Learn to practice these elements in chamber music settings or solo settings, complete with online rhythm and pulse training resources and connection to Kim's Facebook page for personalized practice support.
Also included are written rhythm and pulse exercises for your use at home with a metronome or even together in a group setting .
